Gifts From The Heart – Gail’s Guide To Valentine’s Day
Well January is well and truly over. I had to agree with my daughter when she said that January is like a never ending Monday! It feels like the longest month of the year. The weather didn’t help. Not that it’s getting better…
Anyway, February is here – the romantic month – and Valentine’s Day is almost upon us again!
I’m an old romantic at heart, as I am sure many of us are although we may not admit it.
But I don’t believe in spending money for Valentine’s Day.
I am a strong believer in making something that I have put my all into. You don’t have to buy an expensive gift or a card that someone else has created to show your love. It takes no time at all to make something yourself and it means so much more when you do.
I’m the least artistic person you could ever meet, but I put my heart and soul into every awful looking creation I come up with. That’s the most important thing, it comes from a good place.
Lovey stuff aside, it’s coming up to half term at school. I still can’t believe my baby girl is going to be sixteen this year. How did that happen?
While she’s definitely excited to have some time off from studying, it also means we have lots of days to fill with activities, which can be daunting for those on a budget!
Especially for us – we live in London, which is not the cheapest of cities but we are fortunate enough to have fabulous free museums and beautiful parks to visit.
When it comes to museums, our favourites have to be ‘The Science Museum’ and ‘The Natural History museum’. We were lucky enough to do a night tour at ‘The Natural History Museum’ recently. It really was like being in that movie, ‘Night at the museum’! We had torches and were given free reign of the museum all night.
It was an incredible experience. I kept expecting everything to come to life…could you imagine?! My own mini movie.
Did any of you try a bit of juicing after last months blog? I managed eight days of solid juicing, with the odd blend every now and then. I must admit, I missed my marmite on toast when I fancied a snack! Yes, I know, you either love it or hate it. I, personally, love it.
Have a wonderful week. Sending Valentine’s love and hand made gifts!
Much love, and do keep tweeting me at @Gailporter
